Learning Experiences

Here at Millers Dene Day Care we provide a wide range of activities, resources and learning experiences to encourage babies and young children to experience the wonder of the world around them. Supporting them to learn and grow personally enabling babies and young children to develop their self-confidence and self-esteem.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) which has requirements for children’s welfare and learning and development.

We provide environments where babies and young children can learn and explore through play with a focus on the “process” rather than a “finished result”. Through a challenging and stimulating environment we encourage children to reach their full potential. We also “scaffold” children’s learning, this process involves a practitioner or a more experienced child supporting the child to achieve a new skill with a little bit of support.

Your child’s key worker will observe your child to identify themes/activities that they are interested in and will plan an individual Learning Journey around that theme to support their learning and development. This journey will be shared with you along the way with staff valuing your input.

A progress summary of your child’s learning and development will be shared with you every 6 months, we also carry out a 2 year old check between the ages of 2-3 years alongside your Health Visitors 2 year check. This is also shared with you.
